Bright Light is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit making it easier for busy New Yorkers to show up for their city.

We know that wanting to give back and actually finding a way to do it are two different things. Traditional volunteer opportunities often happen during the workday, require ongoing commitments, or simply don’t fit into demanding and unpredictable schedules.

Bright Light was created to change that.

We host simple, social, and meaningful volunteer opportunities outside the traditional workday, from weeknight and weekend service opportunities with local nonprofits to Bright Light-hosted events where volunteers assemble sandwiches, care kits, and other essential items for communities across NYC.

But we don’t create projects just to keep volunteers busy. We work directly with our nonprofit partners to understand what they actually need and design our events around those needs, making sure the time our volunteers give translates into meaningful, tangible support.

We’re building Bright Light to become the go-to place for New Yorkers who want to give back, connect with their community, and make showing up for their city a regular part of their lives.
